Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh Canada
Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) Canada is a voluntary, non-profit, social and cultural organization. HSS Canada aims to organize the Hindu community in order to preserve, practice and promote Hindu ideals and values. HSS conducts structured programs of regular athletic and academic activities to develop strong character and leadership skills in our next generations, emphasizing values such as self-discipline, self-confidence and a spirit of selfless service (seva) for humanity.
Every Friday, HSS Canada youth sessions are conducted at Louise Arbour French Immersion Public School, 365 Belfield Street, London, ON. Children 8 years of age to 18 years of age are welcome to attend. Activities are focused on developing leadership qualities through team work, leadership exercises, martial arts, public speaking, debating, exposure/practice of Yoga, meditation etc.
Below is the typical schedule of the Friday Session
- 6:30 pm to 6:55 pm – Opening, Warm up & Yoga
- 6:55 pm to 7:25 pm – Games and /or Martial Arts
- 7:30 pm to 7:40 pm – Chanting & Meditation
- 7:40 pm to 8:00 pm – Vedic Mathematics
- 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm – Public Speaking & Debate
- 8:30 to 8:35 pm – Prarthana & Closing
Our youth also take up community service projects like Tree Planting, Park Cleanup, Volunteering at the London Food Bank, Scotia Marathon in Toronto and serving as volunteers at Srishti events in London, ON
Our youth also attend HSS Summer camps and other activities with HSS youth all across Canada at camps, sports events and cultural celebrations.
