For the eight year running Srishti Foundation brought the joyous Hindu festival of Holi to downtown London, ON.

HOLI,  the ancient Hindu Festival of Colours marks the onset of spring, the blooming of colours in mother nature and signifies unity in diversity, was celebrated on April 20th 2019.

Though the actual festival was in March this year, the celebrations in London was celebrated on April 20th, to facilitate the outdoor celebration in warmer weather.

Approximately 1800 people joined together in a Riot of Colours despite it being a rainy day with the forecast calling for more rains. However exactly at 1 p.m. at the planned start time of the event, the rains stopped and a joyous celebration of HOLI followed, dancing to the sound of the Karma Project Band, Folk dances, Bhangra, Bollywood dancing & DJ music.

People of different ethnicity danced, played with colours with synchronized colour throws and dancing at Victoria Park, in downtown London. It was an ocean of youthful energy, love, life and happiness with attendees dancing in an explosion of colours.

The event was kicked off at 1:00pm in a traditional way with a Ganesh Puja,  From there on, the high energy entertainment program raised the energy of the crowd. Our community youth, community performers and our feature performer – the Karma Project Band & our DJ brought the crowd to  its feet. The synchronized colour throwing was a huge draw turning the venue into an explosion of colours. The event ended with a typical Aarti at 4:00 p.m.

Delicious Indian & Nepali cuisine was provided by about 4 Food Vendors on-site.

We would like to thank our sponsors, all of the attendees and volunteers who helped make this event a great success.
